The One Tower office building is part of the One Floreasca City mixed-use complex, located on a former historic industrial platform that belonged to the Ford factory in the interwar period. The 17-storey office tower is rigorously organized around a condensed node in concentric squares. Thanks to the full glazing of the building, each floor offers spectacular views towards the northern part of the city, towards Lake Floreasca and Herăstrau, as well as views towards the urban landscape of Bucharest. The simplified to essentially square floor plan, together with the structure without pillars and beams inside the floor, allow a wide range of co-sharing, co-working, flexible arrangements for new ways of individual or corporate work. Thus, the last two floors, the 16th and the top of the 16th floor, function as a state-of-the-art business and events hub.
One Tower is the most advanced building in relation to Calea Floreasca in the mixed-use complex and with the largest opening to the public area, addressing the outside through loggias obtained as cutouts from the monolithic unitised facade. Glass technology is not self-sufficient. The recognition of this interdisciplinary technological problem activates the contemporary project as a scientific model. Design and execution, facades and different uses of glass are still difficult problems, either in the design contract or in the participatory convergence in execution. Design and execution methodology, professional relationships with structure and facilities, seduction and understanding of materials, articulate our work. "Working with glass" always becomes more intense than drawing or coordinating, with the confirmation of circumstantial R&D (research and development). The office tower with LEED accreditation obtained with the highest V4 Platinum score, is a project in which the criteria of low energy consumption and sustainability determined the entire concept, both in the facade, the materials used and the integration of BMS systems.
